Title: Quantum gravity --- what, how and why
Construction of the theory of quantum gravity (QG) is one of the most fundamental problems of modern theoretical physics. In this lecture, we will give an introduction and an overview of the various approaches to this problem, with a specific aim to explain in simple terms (a) why do we want to quantize gravity, (b) what exactly should be quantized, and (c) how can this be done. We will discuss various solved and unsolved issues of QG research. At the end, we will define one explicit QG model, as an illustration of a possible approach to the study of QG.
