Title:   What is the purpose of quantum gravity?
Abstract:
In this lecture we will make a short presentation of the basics of quantum gravity, with the emphasis on the questions What, Why and How --- i.e. what is really quantum gravity, why gravity should be quantized, and how one can do that. Also, we will deal with questions what would a quantum gravity theory be useful for if we understood it, and why is fundamental physics generically an important research area. At the end we will shortly mention also what research directions are being pursued in the group for Gravitation, Particles and Fields (GPF) in Belgrade.
